The IHPA has very few cast iron rules and regulations, but chief among them are:
- Every pilot must have Personal Liability insurance to a minimum cover of €2,000,000 - this is required by RTE, Coillte and the landowners from whose property we fly or land on.
- Every pilot must fly with a EN966 certified helmet and a reserve parachute suitable for their weight - this is common sense!
- Every pilot must sign the IHPA Release, Waiver & Assumption of Risk Agreement - this is non-negotiable. Without it, you place landowners and other pilots who fly with you in legal jeopardy in the event of an accident.
All pilots are strongly recommended to own a copy of the BHPA Pilot Handbook.
All pilots are strongly recommended to own a copy of the VFR Sectional Airspace Charts.
